Pigeon Toe Spring 2013

I’ve loved the clean and classic ceramics from Pigeon Toe for a couple of years now. I love to give them as gifts, because they are beautiful handcrafted products that will certainly become an instant heirloom. When I received their Spring 2013 catalog, i was not disappointed. They have added some new product types, each as beautiful as the last. Here are some of my favorites:

Do you have a favorite color? Do you wish it was socially acceptable to dress head to toe in that color?

Yesterday I logged onto banana republic to check out some sale items and was greeted with this image:

Are there any other tone on tone outfits or home designs you’ve been coveting this season of bright colors? There are some others in my dwelling and wardrobe pinterest boards.

WE Spring Social 2 West Elm Spring Social with Valley & Co.

A couple weeks ago we were invited to an event at our local Seattle West Elm to check out new arrivals for spring – especially their cool new paper flowers collection. As part of an expansion of their market, they have awesome paper flowers that you can use for seasonal decor but they’ll keep year after year. My favorites are the tulips and the hellebores. Super pretty!

The event was co-hosted by Nick and Aleah Valley from Valley & Co, who gave some awesome tips on spring entertaining including decor using the paper flowers and other organic items. It was awesome to finally meet Aleah since we’ve been instagram buddies for quite awhile now so it was nice to have a quick chat over a delicious mocktail. (Also, how cute is her turq plaid – you KNOW I need that shirt)

In general I’m a little tired of the terrarium trend, but I loved adding in the colorful mixed media for a more modern vibrant twist. Centerpiece inspiration for sure!

I highly recommend you try the High Tea cocktail Nick whipped up (he’s the bartender master of the duo). We couldn’t have the vodka at the event (pouty face), but the base was delicious and I’m sure it would be great for dinner parties with the windows thrown open.

It was so nice to get a dose of color affter many months of wintry gray! After the event, Maggie and I went out to chat all things weddings! Our weddings are going to have some common elements so it was fun to compare notes!

More from Minted

So since we recently showcased the awesome options from Minted for holiday cards, we thought we would also show you guys their awesome gift options while there is still time this season to place your order. Did you know that in addition to cards and invites they also have a bunch of items which you can customize and personalize?

Its true! They have an awesome selection of calendars, and I also love their art prints, journals, and personalized stationery. My very favorite is the custom family tree!

All of these gift items have a bunch of customization options, which is the coolest part. You can pick colors, backgrounds, add names, photos, and messages if you want.

The folks at Minted also reached out to us to ask if we wanted to try out their calendar creator, and of course being the design nerds we are we were excited to see what it was all about. They have a bunch of great designs to start as a base, and within each option you can play with colors and photo layout. Each month can have its own color scheme within the design format, plus you can add your own holidays to each day of the year. Here’s a super sneaky peek of the project I am working on for a very special member of Erik’s family. Its so cute with a mixture of photos of the whole family – I can’t wait to see it finished!

Through Sunday you can get 1 gift free when  you order two others with the code GETGIFTY, so hop to it! They’re quick to ship and would make a really meaningful gift this holiday season.

Pin and Purchase

Time for another installment of pin and purchase! This time, something I can’t believe I never owned before: Rain boots!

Well, can’t believe isn’t actually true. #1: I inherited my dad’s disproportionate calf muscles, so I have problems with boots of all types. I generally can’t wear anything above low-calf. So any old rainboots are tricky. #2: A couple years ago I bought a super adorable pair of shorty navy blue rain boots at an estate sale (some of you are probably super wigged out by that, but it doesn’t bother me), but the problem is they are just SO uncomfortable.

I’ve come to realize that living in Seattle you need a pair of super waterproof shoes for the days when it is really.coming.down so when I came across these Tretorn boots from Rachel’s boards I pinned them to my own and a couple months later decided to pull the plug.

So far I LOVE them. They have furry lining so they are really warm and cozy. They have removable insoles so I can wear my orthotics to give more support. They are a bright peppy color (more orangey poppy red than they appear in the photo), and are just the right proportion so I can either tuck skinnies into them or wear trouser jeans on the outside.

Two thumbs up! Check out more shoes on my wardrobe board.
