Sometimes you just need a little escape, a new adventure, a moment where all you do is explore.   I realized I’ve lived here for five years, and still had not been to Vancouver.  So, a few days before Labor Day, B and I and friend Natalia decided that needed to change.

We were only there two days, but it was the perfect adventure.  Partly, I think I enjoy the turn your cell phone off type times.  Instead of focusing on emails and texts and who’s where on facebook…. I’m just able to be present where I’m at.

We stayed at Moda Hotel downtown.

We met up with bloggie friend Sandra at the perfect B coffee spot called 49th parellel.  They had peanut butter and jelly donuts, which left me so satisfied.

The glaze was gooey peanuty and the inside had the most delicious red jelly.

For dinner, we could not decide which place to go, so we ended up at three places in Gastown.  The first was this exceptional little place in an alley, literally.  It’s called Salt, and gets my finest review, with maximum stars.

You got to select three cheeses and meats, and then pair them with three condiments.  My favorites were the fresh honeycomb and the cherry jelly.  drool….

It was like a progressive dinner, only no one had to cook!  We wanted amongst the twinkly trees.

We found a bunch of darling shops and I think we both did  bunch of Christmas shopping.  You can see our favorite store today on our guest post on Lyndsay’s blog….  It’s called regional assembly of text and oh.my.word….I wanted it all!

And, one of the most important things I learned?  ….. HGTV canada has different shows than US!
