499!

Its no secret to those around me that I am literally counting down the days until Erik is done with the Navy. I’ve heard some military families (mostly those with kids) do fun things to count down – traditional paper chains, jelly beans in a jar, etc. etc. About a year ago I discovered something much simpler – a countdown widget for my phone!

When I first put it on, it was 820-something which seemed really daunting. And at first I would stare at it every day willing it to go faster. But then, spring came, I was outside and away from technology more, and I found myself checking it every 4 or 5 days and sort of amazed at how the days were slipping by in increments of ten.

About a month ago my phone crashed and I had to get a new one and I sort of forgot to even reinstall the countdown widget until just the other day. I remembered and put it back on and realized we were very close to a big milestone. And then today, voila!

Less than 500 days left! I know it still sounds like a huge number, but somehow it seems more like the home stretch than even a year left would (maybe I’m too much of a numbers girl and not enough about dates). Pretty soon it will be 400, and then a year, and then 6 months, and then done! Woohoo!

So even though I had to work late tonight, I poured myself a glass of wine and indulged in a wedding magazine for a few minutes as my own mini-party. Thought I would share my little celebration with all of you.

When we were in Vancouver, I snapped a shot of a cute sign and thought this might be a fun time to share it. Cute, right?

This is too cute! Makes me wish I had something to count down to too. Probably because of the celebratory glass of wine. :)

I hope these next 500 fly right by!

Thanks, Suzanne. I do too. I have such a love/hate relationship with time, in many ways I’m saying SPEED UP, and in many others SLOW DOWN! But, thats a topic for another post. . .
