national architecture week

Chapel in Vantaa Finland. I can’t resist a good Finnish worship space. Image via Dezeen. Found on my architecture pinterest board.

Its National Architecture Week! I was just alerted to this fact last week, but since we’ve been wanting to post more on architectural design, this seemed like a good place to start. I have a couple more specific posts I’m hoping to get up later this week, but for now a few fun linkies to get you started. . .

California: Cliff May and the Romance of the Ranch. Oh, California Coastal Midcentury. Delish.

21 of the ugliest buildings ever built? I’m not sure I agree with many of these, there is some terrible stuff going on in industrial business parks across america. Although that one with the climbing babies sculptures is weird.

A roundup of books on buildings inspired by the wind. Good historical ties between a few styles.

Subtilitas: My favorite architecture tumblr. Written by a former classmate.

Awesome Norwegian firm Snohetta completes first building in US. I’m not sold. You? The allusion to a glacial rock seems like a stretch.
