yep, thats right, i said slug.
remember back when i was so committed to starting this project?
well, i did indeed finish the first “prototype” slug, but as with every first try, there were elements to be improved. The goal was to finish the first slug for my friend Kaitlyn’s baby girl, Journey, upon her arrival since i was flying to California to see them just 6 days after she was born. But, when i saw what could be improved on the prototype i told Kaitlyn i would make Journey a REAL garden slug.
Well. . . it took me 6 months. The prototype happened before we closed on the house, before a hot and sunny Seattle summer and a busy busy holiday season. Kaitlyn, her husband Jeremy, and Journey decided to come to town for Christmas this year, so i had to kick the elf workshop into high gear and get that slug done. So, on a sunny Seattle winter day, we met at Pike Place Market and I delivered Journey her slug. I think it was better this way, because she’s old enough to really be able to play with it.
Now i’m working on a mommy and daddy slug for the busy parents to round out the bunch, lol. Once you get the hang of it, this is an addictive little knitting pattern.
