memorial day kayaking

This past weekend we took advantage of the AWESOME rare Seattle memorial day sun and went for the first kayak of the season. We are going on a longer trip with some friends in a few weekends and thought we’d start to get our arms in SHAPE (haha, or something). We also have a new friend who just moved to Seattle and wanted to show her the city from the best possible vantage: the water.

After grabbing some deeeelicious tacos and grapefruit margaritas at Agua Verde, we went to their paddle club and rented a couple kayaks for the three of us. We trekked around Portage Bay, went under the University Bridge to Lake Union, and explored all the houseboats (you know, like Sleepless in Seattle).

This house was our unexpected favorite. Nothing flashy, but clean lines, lots of potential. Love that angled front facade!

It was a great day to get out on the water, say hi to some fellow Seattleites, and to have a little workout, too. Stay tuned for our end-of-june trip to the San Juan Islands where we hopefully have ORCA pictures to post upon our return :)
